Hip Osteoarthritis (Coxarthrosis)

Hip osteoarthritis (coxarthrosis) is a chronic degenerative disease causing progressive wear of the articular cartilage between the femur and acetabulum. It is one of the most frequent causes of pain and disability in older adults.

⚠ Most common symptoms

  • Groin pain or pain in the front of the thigh
  • Morning stiffness
  • Limping when walking
  • Difficulty crossing legs, putting on socks or bending

🩹 Treatment

  • Conservative: adapted exercise, NSAIDs, physiotherapy, injections
  • Total hip replacement in advanced cases — significantly improves pain and quality of life

✅ Prognosis

  • Excellent with well-indicated prosthesis. Functional recovery is usually complete.
