Subacromial bursitis is inflammation of the bursa between the acromion and the rotator cuff tendon. When inflamed, it causes pain and functional limitation when raising the arm.
⚠ Most common symptoms
- Pain on the lateral side of the shoulder
- Pain when raising the arm above shoulder level
- Limited mobility
- In acute cases, local inflammation
🩹 Treatment
- Relative rest and activity modification
- NSAIDs and local cold therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Subacromial injections in persistent cases
✅ Prognosis
- Very favourable. Most patients improve with conservative treatment.
