Subacromial impingement is a condition where the rotator cuff tendons and/or subacromial bursa are compressed when passing under the acromion during arm elevation. It is one of the most frequent causes of shoulder pain.
⚠ Most common symptoms
- Pain when raising the arm overhead
- Night discomfort, especially lying on the affected side
- Pain during specific activities (reaching high objects, combing hair)
🩹 Treatment
- Physiotherapy, NSAIDs, subacromial injections
- Arthroscopic acromioplasty in cases unresponsive to conservative treatment
✅ Prognosis
- Excellent when addressed early.
